1. Hotel for Families in Berlin*

The first question that needs an answer is: Where do you stay with your family in Berlin? Kindaling recommends the Hollywood Media Hotel. It’s a homage to movies, international stars and unforgotten legends and with its location on Kurfürstendamm - one of Berlin’s most famous streets - it’s the perfect starting point for activities for kids and families in Berlin. The privately run 4 star hotel will delight you with an individual and family ambiance and is the perfect address for a family vacation in Berlin. The Hollywood Media Hotel is an utterly family friendly hotel in Berlin because
- Kids between 0-5 years can sleep in their parents beds or on a sofa bed and have breakfast for free.
- baby beds, baby food heater, baby bathtub, steps for toddlers/infants and diaper trash cans are available without extra fees.
- highchairs for smaller and older children, special kids dishes, bips and painting utensils to keep the kids entertained during the meals are available in the hotel restaurant.
Furthermore there are several family friendly rooms and suits to choose from:
- 4 family rooms with two separate bedrooms,

2. Tempelhofer Feld

As one of the biggest inner city open spaces the Tempelhofer Feld (former Berlin airport) is a magnet for families and a great destination during your visit in Berlin with your kids. On 500 acres there is plenty of space for playing, skating, kiting, picnicing or barbecuinge. The amazing wideness of the field is unique in berlin and and makes a family trip a special experience. Furthermore there is a community garden in the area, which offers a very beautiful place where the whole family can rest and play among the flowers.
3. Siegessäule

One of the most famous sights in Berlin is probably the Siegessäule (Victory Column) - called “Goldelse” by Berliners. You can reach the column through several pedestrian tunnels and for a small entrance of 3 Euros you can climb the steps (there is no elevator!) up to the 51 meter high platform where you’ll have a wonderful view over Tiergarten, Brandenburger Tor and other sights in Berlin. Don’t spend your money on the TV-Tower and enjoy your visit of the Siegessäule during your Berlin trip with your family.
4. Zoo

It can’t be missed in this list: The Berlin Zoo. The Zoologischer Garten is the oldest german zoo and the zoo with the highest biodiversity in the world. Around 22.000 animals live in the 55 acres big area, and it’s the only zoo in Germany that offers a home to giant pandas. There is also a great adventure playground and a petting zoo, which makes the trip to Berlin unforgettable for kids. Furthermore there are guided tours especially for kids, feedings, a sea lion show and other activities. Going to the Berlin Zoo is a great attraction for the perfect family vacation in Berlin and also great for locals.
5. Playground - Drachenspielplatz

The Drachenspielplatz (Dragon Playground) in Friedrichshain is one of the most beautiful and most famous playgrounds in Berlin. The dragon itself is a extraordinary jungle gym, and kids can even climb around in its mouth. Of course, there are also swings, slides and everything else a perfect playground needs. After romping around the dragon, the surrounding stores, coffee shops and kids cafes are great spaces to rest.
6. Family Boat Tours

A boat tour is always a special adventure for young and old. In Berlin there are numerous boat companies that offer a lot of different tours. We recommend the Reederei Winkler, which offers family tickets and two special tours for families. The tours start either at Friedrichstraße train station or at Schloßbrücke pier and last 1 hour or 3,5 hours. From the water you and your kids can see the most beautiful and famous sights of Berlin while listening to your tour guide tell you more about buildings and history. Snacks and drinks are also offered during the tour.
7. A Day in the Museum

Unfortunately the sun is not always shining in Germany’s capital. On a rainy day we highly recommend you to visit one of Berlin’s numerous museums that have a lot to offer for kids.
One of our favorites is the Deutsches Spionagemuseum (German Spy Museum) at Potsdamer Platz. Here the whole family gets to know the universe of agents and secret services and learns about their work from the ancient world to the present time. A highlight is the laser parkour.
Another museum that you should pay a visit with your kids is the Museum für Naturkunde (Museum of Natural History). Locals love to go here. There is always something to explore, a lot of changing exhibitions, events and special guided tours (e.g. at night with flashlights). An all time favorite is Tristan, the 12 meter long tyrannosaurus, which will probably not only impress children’s eyes.
8. Wannsee

The Berlin Wannsee in the western part of the city is widely known and offers a little paradise for everybody that travels there. At Strandbad Wannsee you can spend a relaxing day with your whole family. It’s not only great for swimming or sunbathing, but you can also rent canoes or try different water sports. Another great attraction for families is the Pfaueninsel (peacock island), which can be reached by ferry. There you can explore the island, watch the beautiful peacocks and might also spot some water buffalos. Wannsee is definitely a wonderful place for spending a day with the family on a sunny summer day.
9. Gärten der Welt

The Gärten der Welt (Gardens of the World) are located in Marzahn-Hellersdorf in the east of Berlin. On 100 acres there are 10 different gardens displaying different forms of garden styles from around the world. Several playgrounds, a water playground, a sledge run, a maze, a labyrinth and a lot of places to grab food make the trip to Gärten der Welt a perfect day out with kids in Berlin. Important to mention is the cable car which connects Gärten der Welt with Kienbergpark.
10. Treptower Park

Treptower Park in the east of Berlin is the Kindaling team’s insider tip. The park is easy to reach with the Ringbahn and has everything for a perfect day with the family in Berlin. Right next to the river Spree there are large lawns, lot of pretty flower beds, a great playground, a water fountain where kids can play and many food stands that sell tasty treats. Furthermore there is the Insel der Jugend (island of youth) in the park which you can reach over a bridge. There is a nice beer garden and boat rental shop. And if you take a trip to Treptower Park make sure not to miss the Soviet Memorial with its imposing 30 meter high statue.
