Anbieter der Woche: Raum Schwalbe
Located at Winsstraße in Prenzlauer Berg the Kindercafe Raum Schwalbe is an integrative space for creativity, sustainable living, innovative learning and relaxation. We talked to the lovely brasilian owner Camilla Ribas and asked her some questions.

1. Hi Camilla, tell us a little bit about your café and what's so special about it?
Raum Schwalbe is not a usual Kindercafe because my idea is to offer a space where the parents can actually feel they are still "part of the world". At Raum Schwalbe we offer home-made vegan cakes, vegan shakes and lemonade, rustic sandwiches and the beloved Buddha Bowl (with 2 Brazilian ingredients which are conquering everybody!). We offer classes, 2nd hand kids clothing, and also our space itself can be booked for private gatherings and birthday parties, theater presentation, etc.
2. What was your inspiration to found your business?
The first year of parenthood is a moment where everything is new, or suddenly the world becomes a stranger, or we feel we are strangers to the world. So my idea was to create a cool space with a focus on parenthood and creativity which puts more weight on adults than on kids with the thinking that if mom & dad are happy, then the baby is happy too, no matter where.

I remember my own first year of being a mother and the need to feel I was still part of the world while being a mother. And I remember those cafes with a Kinderecke, and how much they "saved" me. In recent years, before opening Raum Schwalbe, I had become a Shiatsu practitioner, and was thinking of opening a Shiatsu room. But then (secretly!) as a hobby I also started writing an opera (!) and remembered how I always liked to be part of a Choir, and how much I enjoyed all those years of dance lessons, theater, art making, etc. And my passion for baking is something that comes back from childhood, so when I started to think of opening my own space, I've realized my passions are many, and that I could find a way of bringing them all to the same space.
3. Living in Berlin for 10 years already, what's your favorite place for children and families in Berlin?
Certainly the many parks. And in winter, our favorite activity is ice-skating!

4. Being a parent yourself, what advice would you like to give parents?
Everything you tell your baby until they're 11 months old, they will respect for ever! That was the most astonishing observation I had with mine. So my recommendation is that is never too soon to start setting boundaries. And why not have a Matcha Latte while doing so?!
5. Do you have new courses or highlights at Raum Schwalbe that you would like to draw attention to?
We are starting a Kinderchoir for ages 6-10, with a very attractive monthly fee!
